About The Production

The overall production concept for Airness was to capture the joy and community that air guitar brought to the characters, which also was a reminder of the community and joy theatre brings to those of us who were working on the show. My duties as an Assistant Stage Manager included writing an extra blocking script, line notes, making documents (contact sheet, pre-show/post-show checklists), managing backstage, and dropping confetti from the grid during performances. Airness was the first show I was on a production team for where the director stepped back and had the stage management team take over once the show opened. It gave me the opportunity to learn from my stage manager and learn how run a show and make a judgement call when a director is no longer there. I took a lot away from this show, not just how to be a good stage manager, but how to continue to capture the joy that live theatre brings.
