About The Production

The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild hosts summer drama camps from June-July. What marks the end of the summer drama camps is the “play in a week.” The kids were given the script on Monday, rehearsed the show throughout the week, and had performances that Sunday and following Monday. Also due to the kids’ availability, there were two casts, a morning and afternoon cast. I worked with kids between the ages of 7 and 15, and varying levels of experience. I used each rehearsal as a learning opportunity, playing games like “Rachel Says” to teach them about stage directions or using funny phrases like “Those Boats Won’t Float” for them to practice diction. The moments of this production that I will look back on fondly seeing the moments where our younger kids fell in love with theatre. Seeing their faces light up when the audience laughed at a joke or putting on their costumes for the first time, they were bit by that bug, and I’m couldn’t be happier to be a small part on the start of their theatre journey.
